Dr. Samuel L. Ahn
It is my pleasure and honor to be your neighborhood eye care professional. When I created Optica, my goal was to create a family friendly practice where patients always come first. I spent my youth growing up in the suburbs of Washington D.C. As a student, I served many years as a science and math tutor for disadvantaged kids at Upward Bound. I earned my B.S. in Microbiology at the University of Maryland. After graduation, I spent several years doing cancer research at Georgetown University. I received my Doctorate of Optometry at UC Berkeley.
My clinical experience includes rotations at the Navajo Indian Hospital in Shiprock, NM, the American Lake VA hospital in Tacoma, WA and a LASIK surgery center in Bellevue, WA. I pride myself at listening to my patient's needs and finding the best solutions.
I love my career and I am completely dedicated to doing what is best for those under my care. My hobbies include reading nonfiction, listening to music, biking, golfing, and hiking. I live with my wife and dog in Issaquah.

I was born and raised in Sammamish, Washington. I received a B.S. in Biology with a Chemistry minor from Pepperdine University, and graduated with my Doctorate of Optometry from UC Berkeley. I practiced in various settings including Miami VA Healthcare System and Vandenberg Air Force Base. After working in private practice in Los Angeles, I am thrilled to be back on the Eastside serving the community I grew up in. My interests include lifestyle medicine, education and public health. I co-manage ophthalmic medical procedures and LASIK, and take pride in providing my patients with the highest level of care. I love being able to help my patients with their ocular needs and wellbeing.
In my free time you may find me enjoying one of the many beautiful trails in the Pacific Northwest. I also enjoy yoga, reading, spending time with my two cats, and trying new plant-based recipes.

Hi. I have been a colleague of Dr. Ahn for over 15 years and I am excited to be part of the Optica Vision Care team. I enjoy providing eye exams to the entire family and especially enjoy working with kids.
After earning a B.S. in Biology at the University of Washington, I headed to Boston, Massachusetts to attend the New England School of Optometry. I have had the opportunity to intern at a wide variety of places including South Boston Family Clinic, the pediatric section of Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Florida, and at the Portland VA Hospital in Oregon. After receiving my optometric degree in 2003, I returned home to the Pacific Northwest where I have been practicing on the Eastside since 2004.
I moved to Issaquah in 2010 and am grateful to be able to both work and live in such a wonderful community. Along with interests in local arts, I also enjoy spending time with my husband and two young boys.
