Myopia Control for Children in Issaquah

Myopia (nearsightedness) often gets worse through childhood and the teen years. Myopia control aims to slow that progression, which may reduce the risk of high myopia and its related eye health problems later in life.

Our options

​

• Stellest myopia control eyeglass lenses. Stellest lenses are FDA-approved for children and are a good choice for kids who aren't ready for contacts.

• MiSight daily contact lenses. MiSight soft daily disposable contacts are FDA-approved to slow the progression of myopia in children, and we fit and prescribe them.

• Atropine eye drops. Low-dose atropine is prescribed off-label and is another option for children who can't tolerate contact lenses.

Precise monitoring

 

We use the Aladdin-M biometer to monitor axial length, the length of the eye, over time.  This shows us more accurately than a glasses prescription alone whether myopia is progressing, and it helps us fit contact lenses precisely and adjust treatment for each child.
